The following is a step-by-step guide to how to use your own domain for your online store once you have bought it on GoDaddy.com. Let’s get started!

Step 1

We assume you already have a GoDaddy account, you have found an available domain name, and purchased it from GoDaddy.com. Now, from the "My Account" page, locate and click on 'Domains' to expand your list of domains.

Step 2

From the list of domains, click the Manage button beside the domain you wish to use for your online store. In this example we’ll be using the domain name “example.com”. See below:

Step 3

You will now be taken to the Domains Details screen. First we're going to set up domain forwarding, to redirect any visitors from the non-www of your domain, to the 'www' (e.g from example.com to www.example.com). This is so that visitors will be sure to reach your site, whether or not they remember to include the 'www'. Start by clicking the Manage link.

Step 4

Once you are in the ‘Forwarding and Masking’ panel, click the 'Add Forwarding’ forwarding button.

Step 5
Type in your domain name remembering to include the "www.". Confirm the rest of the details match the screenshot below, then click the 'ADD' button once you have done this.

Then click the 'Save' button to persist the changes.

Step 6

Now, back at the Domain Details screen, click the DNS Zone File tab, where will now set up what's called a CNAME record, to point your domain to SupaDupa. Specifically we will be setting up a CNAME, pointing from 'www' to 'mysupadupa.com'.

Step 7

Once in the Zone file editor screen, scroll down to the CNAME (Alias) section and locate the row that has 'www' as the host. Click the edit button for this row to modify this row.

Step 8

From here, change the 'points to' field to 'mysupadupa.com'.
With the details matching as shown in the screenshot, click the green 'Finish' button.

Step 9

Once you have done this, click the ‘Save Changes’ link in the red bar that appears.
Upon having done this, you've completed all the changes needed at GoDaddy.

Step 10

Ok, now for the easy bit. Return to your SupaDupa Back Office and go to the 'Domains' section which can be found by clicking 'Settings' in the left hand navigation, then clicking 'Domains'.

Click the green button to add a ‘NEW DOMAIN’.
Type in the domain you wish to add (remember to include the www) e.g. www.example.com

Click the button to SAVE CHANGES.

You will be returned to the domains list where you should now click on toggle beside your custom domain and set the default domain name for your online store.
